Team Unity technology meetup for women
03 May 2018 |
PayPal Chennai's Unity team organized a meet up for women technologists based on the theme of Analytics. The event attracted engineers, analysts as well as several technopreneurs.
The session was kicked off by Deepa Madhavan, Director, Enterprise Data Services, who shared her perspective about what PayPal means to her both as a customer as well as an employee and the inspiration she draws every day from PayPal's core values of Inclusion, Wellness, Collaboration and Innovation.
This was followed by a presentation by Avinash Karn titled
Seeing Signal Through Noise
. Avinash, who leads the Business Analytics team within PayPal Chennai's Analytics Centre of Excellence (ACOE) spoke on the influence of analytics on sound business decisions, the ubiquity of analytics and the fact that we now live in an algorithmic economy. While sharing an overview of the analytics function at PayPal, he emphasized that while we have a plethora of tools available for analysis and visualization of data, understanding the business problem and converting it into an analytical problem is the most critical step.
Building on the theme, Srividya Rajagopalan and Neetha Jayanth- Managers in Data Analytics for Management and Seller Risk Management - walked the attendees through a business case. They showcased how analytical tools such as Root Cause analysis and Segmentation helped arrive at a clear understanding of the problem and enabled them to come up with possible solutions using the combination of Cost Benefit Analysis and Hypothesis testing.
As Bhaduri Raju Naidu - Director Software Development - explained in her vote of thanks, these meetups are part of a concerted effort by PayPal to bring together not just technologists but also to provide a platform on an ongoing basis for these engineers and entrepreneurs to proudly showcase their work and learn.
